Because of school threats one district in Idaho announced they are canceling their homecoming parade.  In Caldwell, the school’s parade was set for this afternoon.  The district also said the homecoming assembly was also canceled.  The district says they were made aware of possible threats this week that have caused a "significant disruption to the educational environment."

A legal victory, for a well-known Boise coffee shop, as a jury awards the owners millions of dollars.  Big City Coffee awarded $4 million in a civil lawsuit against Boise State University employees.  The lawsuit claimed violations of First Amendment rights due to a 'Thin Blue Line' flag display.

Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students in Moscow in November 2022, will appear in the Ada County courthouse for the first time next Thursday.  The hearing will be a status conference to determine the next steps for the trial.  Kohberger's trial was scheduled to start in June 2025, but after his change of venue request was granted, it was moved from Latah County to Ada County.  Now, all hearings that were scheduled in Latah County need to be rescheduled in Ada County.

A popular country music gathering in Filer, has posted the similar planned Texas event has been canceled this year.  The Highway 30’s music fest said the October event in Fort Worth will not happen.  They hope to return to the Lone Star state next year. 

The Idaho Transportation Board took back control of its flood-damaged former Boise headquarters yesterday, setting off what could be a years-long and uncertain next chapter for the property.  Taking back control of the building allows the Idaho Transportation Department to use $32.5 million in state funding the Idaho Legislature approved earlier this year to renovate the damaged and contaminated building.

Jeremy Green has accepted the position of Idaho State University Chief Campus Administrator for Eastern and Southern Idaho.   This newly created position hopes for growth and development of the Idaho Falls and Twin Falls campuses.

SPORTS

Despite a fantastic start the Golden Eagles ended up falling in their conference home opener to Colorado Northwestern 2-1 yesterday afternoon.  Golden Eagles will now prepare for their toughest test yet, as they take on #2 Salt Lake on Saturday.

The CSI Women's soccer club went toe to toe with #19 Colorado Northwestern in their conference home opener yesterday afternoon, a match that ended in a 1-1 draw.

Another week, another ranked opponent for the Idaho Vandals. Fourth-ranked Idaho heads to the Lone Star State for a battle with No. 19 Abilene Christian.

From games played locally, first for boy’s high school soccer, Twin Falls defeated Minico 10 to 2.  Thunder Ridge and Canyon Ridge tied it up with 1 each.  It was Wood River 4 Mountain Home 1.  For the girls, Jerome downed Burley 4 to 0.  It was Mountain Home 2 Wood River 1. 

In a volleyball game, Highland of Pocatello defeated Canyon Ridge 3 to 0. 

On today’s schedule first for Football, Shoshone takes a road trip to Camas County, Buhl travels to American Falls, Twin Falls goes cross town to Canyon Ridge, Dietrich travels to Castleford, Wendell plays Cole Valley Christian, Firth travels to Declo, Glenns Ferry to Grace, Rockland visits Hagerman, Homedale will be in Jerome to play the tigers.  Gooding heads to Mountain home.  Murtaugh to Raft River, Carey to Richfield, Kimberly travels to sugar Salem, Oakley to Valley and Filer boards the bus to Wood River. 

For soccer games, both the boys and girls from Buhl travel to the Sun Valley Community School. 

For volleyball, Minico will participate in the ThunderBee Tournament in Bonneville, Twin Falls will host the Twin Falls invitational.  Kimberly and canyon ridge will participate.
