Idaho officials are taking steps to strengthen the state’s election security.  Yesterday, Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane met with federal officials at the Idaho State Capitol in Boise to highlight the partnership.  While elections are not run by the federal government, CISA serves to provide state and local governments with cybersecurity support ahead of elections with no cost cybersecurity assessments and training.

Police say a 21-year-old man has been charged with having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl in Twin Falls.  Kaden Skinner is facing multiple felonies.  He allegedly secretly lived in the home and the parents claim they were unaware he was there.

The Idaho PUC will hold a virtual public workshop next Wednesday to discuss an application from rocky mountain power to increase rates.  The workshop on the PUC website begins at 6 pm. 

The Twin Falls high school career and tech education programs are in for a change thanks to a grant from the State Education department.  Twin Falls received a million dollars for improvements.  The money will be used to extend the current shop at the high school 100 feet giving more room to the welding and ag programs.

The Idaho Transportation Department say that they will reopen State Highway 21 between Lowman and Stanley tomorrow.   Traffic will be managed with a pilot car or flagging operations to safely guide people through areas where crews are working on repairs.  The road was damaged by the Wapiti fire. 

The United States District Court of Idaho dismissed the lawsuit challenging Idaho’s new voter registration requirements.  In the ruling yesterday, the court affirmed that Idaho’s voter ID requirements are a reasonable and constitutional measure designed to protect the election process from fraud and misconduct while maintaining fairness for all eligible voters.

SPORTS

Boise State officials announced Wednesday that the Broncos' first three home games for the 2024 football season have officially sold out.  Games against Portland State, Washington State and Utah State are expected to continue to make Albertsons Stadium one of the toughest environments in which to play in college football.  Fans wishing to see the 2024 Broncos in person are encouraged to purchase tickets for the final three home games San Diego State, Nevada and Oregon State as soon as possible to guarantee seats.

Its homecoming week in Pocatello and the Idaho State Bengals are set to host the Southern Utah University Thunderbirds in the ICCU Dome. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 PM MT and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.  This will be the 20th all-time meeting of the Bengals and Thunderbirds and the 13th in Pocatello.

Taking a look at scores from yesterday local high school games, first for the boys soccer, Filer shut out Declo 4 to 0.  Gooding outlasted Buhl 3 to 0.  It was Kimberly 1 Bliss 0.  Wendell overpowered the Sun Valley Community school with a 4 to 1 score.  For the Girls, Buhl downed Gooding 6 to 0.  The Sun Valley community school overpowered Wendell taking the game 3 to 0. 

For Volleyball, Hagerman outlasted Lighthouse Christian 3 to 1.  Shoshone for the win over Raft River 3 to 1.  Richfield downed Camas County 3 to 0 and it was Carey 3 Castleford 0.  Dietrich for the win over Hansen 3 to 2.  Valley for the win over Murtaugh 3 to 2.  Oakley overpowered the Sun Valley community school with a 3 to 0 score. 

On today’s schedule, for boys’ soccer, Twin Falls is on the bus to Minico, Thunder Ridge will travel to Twin Falls to play Canyon Ridge.  Mountain Home goes to Wood River. 

For the girls, Canyon Ridge will travel to Thunder Ridge.  Jerome goes to Burley, Wood River to Mountain Home, Minico to Twin Falls. 

For Volleyball games, Jerome will host Century.  Valley to Raft River.  Mountain Home to Buhl.  Filer to Kimberly.  Gooding to Parma.  Soda Springs to Declo.  Wendell to Glenns Ferry and Canyon Ridge travels to Pocatello to play Highland.  Burley to Pocatello.
